Living Classroom Heron's Head Park, San Francisco
The Living Classroom is a demonstration building designed to educate young people about ecological building materials, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water recycling. As well as builidng sciences, the Living Classroom meets social responsibilities, such as healing the environment on which it sits. Previously a brownfield site, Heron's HeadPark lies in a region of San Francisco called Hunter's Point. The area is known for environmental problems resulting from industrial and chemical pollution. The Living Classroom is an opportunity to provide new resources, community education, and an amenity for the neighborhood.
